Mexico City: New charges against anarchists Amélie, Fallon and Carlos, imprisoned since January 5th, 2014 (Mexico)

On the morning of May 16th, comrades Amélie and Fallon were notified that they would be taken to the Reclusorio Sur (Mexico City’s Southern Penitentiary) to testify on new charges under federal order.

At around 8am, both were transferred to the court, where they met comrade Carlos.

After waiting almost all morning, they were finally informed that an arrest warrant was executed for the offense of damage to others’ property, in the form of “arson in a building with some person inside.” The three comrades did not make a statement, and once the hearing was over, they were brought back to the prisons where they’re being held since February 2014 (Carlos to the Reclusorio Oriente, Amélie and Fallon to Santa Martha), after having spent 40 days in federal custody through the arraignment procedure. Laatste woord Joke Kaviaar

De zitting in hoger beroep in de strafzaak tegen schrijfster en activiste Joke Kaviaar is afgelopen. De eis van het Openbaar Ministerie is net als in eerste aanleg zes maanden gevangenisstraf; het vonnis was toen vier maanden. De uitspraak in het hoger beroep is woensdag 28 mei om 13.30 uur.

Hieronder het laatste woord dat Joke heeft voorgelezen:

Werk niet mee aan tirannie, maar werk mee aan bevrijding!

In mijn laatste woord bij de Haarlemse rechtbank op 8 januari 2013 besloot ik met te zeggen dat de strijd die gevoerd moet worden belangrijker is dan dit politieke proces. Dit proces is belangrijk voor het OM, dat, nog verder dan reeds het geval is, de vrijheid van meningsuiting wil inperken voor mensen die hun woorden en daden tegen de overheid inzetten en niet, zoals men het liever ziet, tegen elkaar. Vrijheid voor Joel! – Antifascisme is zelfverdediging

Freedom for Joel!Zaterdag 14 december 2013 word in Kärrtorp, een voorstad van Stockholm, een antiracistische demonstratie door ongeveer 30 nazi’s van het Svensk Motståndsrörelse (Zweedse Verzetsbeweging, SMR) aangevallen met stenen, knuppels, flessen, messen en vuurwerk. De demonstratie richtte zich tegen Nazi-graffiti die al langere tijd in Kärrtrop in het straatbeeld zichtbaar was. Joel en andere antifascisten verdedigden zich tegen deze nazi-aanval. 15 mei: Opruiende actie tegen vervolging Joke Kaviaar

Komende donderdag 15 mei, dient bij het gerechtshof in Amsterdam het Hoger Beroep in de rechtszaak van de staat tegen Joke Kaviaar. Zij werd op 22 januari 2013 tot 4 maanden cel veroordeeld wegens het schrijven en verspreiden van vier teksten waarin zij de onderdrukking, vervolging, opsluiting en deportatie van vluchtelingen/ migranten zonder papieren, aanklaagt en tot actief verzet oproept.

Several hours left before the official start of the World Hockey Championship 2014 in Belarus. Event that was planned in 2009 during another political thaw between the West and Lukashenko was constantly criticized by human rights and political organizations for support of Lukashenko’s political regime. Many groups called national hockey teams to boycott the championship, however International Federation of Ice Hockey decided once again that sport is standing apart from politics and retained the right for hosting championship in Minsk. It’s time to share information and ideas about the recent developments in the Dutch prison system en the necessity of abolitionist struggle. Lately news on prisons has been in the media a lot. News like the ridicule idea that inmates are going to have to pay to be incarcerated, but also a call for heavier punishments in general. The prison system is undergoing a process of far reaching privatization. The state intends to make the prisons financially self-sufficient. By outsourcing the building and exploitation to private companies even more parties and people will make profit from locking up people. In actie rond hoger beroep Joke Kaviaar – solidariteit tegen repressie, solidariteit voor migratievrijheid

Over drie weken, namelijk donderdag 15 mei, dient het hoger beroep in de rechtszaak tegen Joke Kaviaar. Zij is op 22 januari 2013 tot vier maanden cel veroordeeld wegens het publiceren van vier teksten die het Openbaar Ministerie beschouwt als opruiend. In de teksten nam zij fel stelling tegen de vervolging, opsluiting en deportatie van vluchtelingen en migranten zonder verblijfspapieren, tegen het onderdrukkende migratiebeleid van de Nederlandse staat.

Met de veroordeling treft de staat allen die op willen staan tegen onrecht, zich krachtig uit willen spreken en tot verzet willen oproepen. De staat valt zo de strijd voor vrijheid van migratie zelf aan. Dit mag niet onweersproken blijven. On February 13th Joel plead guilty to 12 counts of mischief over $5000 (originally facing 26 counts) and was sentenced to 20 months.
